Her world is blue.
The sky is blue, is it not? There is a blue sky on cloudless days and a blue-gray sky on the rainy ones. She is surrounded by blue, today, not blue-gray. Either way, it's blue.
Her mood can be described as very, very blue. She is nearby the pond in the park, which is blue. The tears falling into it from her eyes merge with the blue water with a few ripples. They disappear seamlessly into the blue.
She'd made her best friend's outfit that day from the color blue. By chance, her boyfriend had worn blue, too. Today, those two had kissed for the first time, and she'd caught it on tape. Hadn't she gotten over her friend already? Apparently not, because otherwise, she wouldn't be here in the park, crying blue tears, alone. It had been jealousy when she first saw their kiss, but now, she was only upset. The color of upset is blue.
She can't bring herself to delete the film. It would be a betrayal, but of what, she doesn't know. The little pop-out screen on her camera is paused. The color of that screen is blue.
Her outlet is singing, so she decides to do just that, here at night in the park, where nobody will hear. She sings. It is a song of blue, both the color and the feeling. It fits. She sings softly, quietly. Nothing is disturbed. It is over, but the blue doesn't dissipate this time. All is still blue, to her.
There is now something blue next to her. It is a shoe, followed by navy blue pants. This is a blue person. The person sits down.
The blue is explained. Blue has always been this particular friend's trademark color. She looks back out towards the blue water again. She doesn't want to see him. More blue will just hurt.
Then again, it's too late. He's heard her song. It was a blue song. He says he noticed. Why so blue? That is his question.
She says nothing, but she doesn't need to say a thing. He takes her hand comfortingly.
A single color breaks through. Her face and mind are red, just for a moment. She doesn't understand. But just as quickly, the red fades back into blue.
He tells her something. He is blue himself, heartbroken also. So, we are a pair of blues.
She just barely smiles. His sharp eyes catch it.
Why is he heartbroken? She wonders. She hasn't noticed she said it aloud, until she answers.
He says he is blue, because the one he loves is blue. She says nothing. He reaches out with pale hands, and turns her face towards him.
His hair is blue, and his eyes are blue. But this is a different blue, she notices. It is bright. There is a bright blue?
The one he loves is blue. The one he loves is her. She is his blue.
In a swift moment, he kisses her. Afterwards, she stares into his eyes. She is still blue, but now that blue has changed, reflecting his eyes.
His eyes are a new kind of blue, and now, she looks at blue like those eyes. Blue, she realizes, has covered up the truth the whole time. She never noticed that the color of her love is blue, but it is a joyous blue instead, one she welcomes.
She stares into his eyes, he stares back. Why has she never before noticed that his blue is unlike the rest of them?
Perhaps blue isn't so bad, after all.
She leaves her blue world for another blue world, one where suddenly, all is right.
