Metallic Pendent
"What are you doing here?"
She almost forgot his powers could also unlock doors.
"Now, I know this looks bad…" Erik held his hands up. "But let me explain."
Margaret stormed out of the living room. An arm wrapped around her frame, though she brushed them off aside. She turned to look at him.
"Is it true? Is it true that you shot the President?"
The air was silent. All was heard was the hum of the refrigerator as they stood in the kitchen. The tick of the clock echoed.
Erik shook his head. "No. No, I tried to stop the shots, though they knocked me out before I could stop them."
Her hands reached for her mouth. Her eyes were starting to feel wet. The stoic, mysterious, kind gentleman before her was now a mass murderer.
"Jesus, Erik…"
"I'm trying," he rasped. "I'm trying to make the world a better place for everyone. A better place for people like me…!"
A fork was floating midair. He reached for it and placed it back on the counter. He vowed to himself, vowed to Margaret that he would never use his powers to hurt her. The first time he showed her what he could do, her eyes were in amazement as he made the metal dance in front of her. It was the first time someone called his powers beautiful.
The necklace he made for her that day was still on her neck.
"Just a little more time, then I can finally free us all."
He reached for her shoulders. God, she was beautiful. His lips danced upon her skin.
"That way I can be with you…"
Tears still were in her eyes. No gentleness was on her face, and he felt no love in her eyes. "No… No, I can't do this…"
"Maggie…"
They were in the living room again.
"No! You promised me you weren't going back to that anymore."
"Please, Maggie, just give me more time…"
"It's always broken promises with you, Erik… Broken promises after broken promises. I can't live like this anymore."
"Maggie, this time will be different."
"Peter is growing up not knowing his father," she breathed. "I think it's best if he still didn't knew, especially after what you did."
His work, or whatever he called it took him years, leaving her behind. He was absent when Peter was growing up. How many more years was it going to take for him to come back again?
Erik reached out for Margaret. "Just let me see my boy…"
Their hands began to touch.
"I can raise Peter on my own. I have been doing that for eight years…" she breathed. "Please… Go, before the police get here…"
"Margaret…" HIs face began to feel wet.
"If you want to protect our son… leave before it's too late."
Slowly, he moved to kiss her cheek. Each footstep to the door grew heavier as he made his way out. One sob came out of her. Then more tears left her eyes.
After a doctor's appointment weeks later, she found out she was pregnant again. At least this way, Peter will have a sibling. Margaret found out Peter could run at the speed of light. He was a mutant like the rest of them. She smiled to herself.
Like father, like son…
Note*~
Mildly inspired by Killing Kennedy, since DoFP inspired me to research about the 70's and Kennedy. And plus Michelle Trackenberg's in it as well as Ginnifer Goodwin from Once Upon A Time! Michael Fassbender is so, so handsome. c': I absolutely adore the Peter-Erik family theory. I don't know why… Perhaps Magneto being a dad may bring out the only good side in him? hehe
