"I… I don't know. I left the house…" I felt my voice hitch in my throat and his hand tightened on my own. "I left the house to go see what was happening across the street. I swear I punched in the code on the security system."
I looked up and matched his brown eyes. I let my gaze wander down across his black CSI vest and stopped at his watch. I made a face slightly.
"Is that the watch I gave you for Christmas?" I questioned quietly. He moved his hand away and stuttered slightly.
"No, it just looks like it. I really liked that watch…" He trailed off. A small scoff escaped his lips and then he smiled once more. "What happened after that, Amelie?"
"When I got back the system said error and I followed the blood." My face went white and I felt my pulse slow down. The computer to the left of me began chirping.
"Hey, hey. It's okay." His soothe voice pulled me from the terror I was in.
"Who did this, Nick? Why would they do this to Natalie?"
"Natalie?" He questioned quietly, his eyes glazing over slightly as memories reminded him of the past.
"Promise me you will figure it out." I let my hand drop from his. "I think I need to be alone." I whispered. He kissed the top of my head and exited the door.
Nick walked out of the hospital with a new determination. He hopped into the SUV and made his way to the CSI headquarters. He went straight to the morgue. After dressing in the scrubs and putting gloves on he walked over to Dr Robbins.
"Oh, hello Nick. Your first victim is over here. Shot three times to the back. The young girl is over here. One bullet to the temple. She died quick. I don't see any signs of struggling and it looked like she was asleep when it happened. I did stomach contents, nothing interesting on either. They do look alike though, maybe that has to do with his motive?"
"Thanks Doc." Nick responded and watched as Dr Robbins moved away. Nick looked down at the young girl with her eyes closed. She had medium length brown hair, almond shaped eyes and tan skin. She seemed to have lips like her mother. Nick moved a piece of hair from her face and let out a soft sigh. He knew her mother, how did he not know her?
"Doc? How old is she?" He asked loudly.
"12, stokes. And the other 14." Nick took the paperwork that had been provided for him and went back upstairs to where the offices were.
