Lytning awoke on a cold, dreary morning in July. This was weird; the temperature had been in the early twenties and late teens the day before. She couldn't even sit up she heard an anguished yelp from downstairs. 'Oh, dear! Lyndon will've brought in another bird...' she thought, pulling her dressing gown on and pushing on her glasses before hurrying down the 18 stairs. She had often counted those stairs. 'That sound was so strange, poor bird.' but what met her eyes was not what she had expected. That. Was. NOT. A. bird...
"Aarrgghh! Put me down! Youer holding precious cargo here!" there struggled a small yellow and green thing squirming around, yet held just above the ground by Lyndon's jaws. Lytning gasped. She saw that the... thing was still squirming, more violently now, and steadied herself. "LYNDON! Release it!" she felt bad for calling the thing it, or a thing, for that matter, but she had no idea what else she could call it.
"Aah! Thank you, kind Miss." the being bowed as Lyndon set it down, scampering off through the cat flap.
"Who are you?" Lytning asked, suddenly all too inquisitive about this blob of flesh with a strong welsh accent. "What are you?"
"I am Drippy, lord high lord of the fairies! I have just fallen from the sky! It sounds hard to believe, but hold on and listen."
"Now, before we begin, I just want to say that youer animal buttie nearly got me flippin killed! Drives me bonkers, it does!" Drippy exclaimed, only after Lytning had given him a digestive biscuit and dried him off
"What drives you bonkers?" Lytning asked
"How big youer animals are, by here in youer world!"
"In our world? Are you... an alien?" Drippy seemed exasperated after Lytning asked this
"No! I told you! I'm Drippy, Lord High Lord of the Fairies!" lightning smiled. Drippy stood up on the stool he had been sat on and started to explain about the whole 'parallel universe' thing. This made perfect sense, yet... it didn't.
