Wanda woke up due to a sharp pain in her chest. She felt like her heart was being ripped out of her chest once again. The room she was sleeping in was dark and empty. She wasn't used to being on her own. Pietro had been by her side since the day she was born and now, now the separation was draining her of all energy. She swung her legs over the side of her bed, and exited the room. She was currently staying at the new S.H.I.E.L.D. base for training as an Avenger. She wandered the halls to rid herself of the feeling of loneliness, but tried to avoid the agents that wandered around the facility at all hours of the day.

It was an odd feeling, wanting to be with someone and no one at all at the same time. She never needed to be alone in her life. She always had a companion - or rather was the companion, seeing as even before the experiments Pietro was still much faster than she was, though he never left her behind. If she tripped and scrapped her knee while trying to catch up to him, he would run back to the building their family lived in to get the materials needed to patch her up. Pietro had learnt to ride a bike much earlier than Wanda, so while she was learning, he would run alongside her as though it were nothing laughing joyfully. When Wanda suggested following the whispers in the streets to Strucker and his mad experiments to protect their people, Pietro grabbed her hand and led the way. The same reaction came from Pietro when Wanda wanted to help the Avengers fight against Ultron. They were supposed to be together, and yet Ultron ruined that dream.

Wanda continued silently roaming the halls, each step bringing her closer to comfort. But crushing souls was not the only power Ultron had shown Wanda. He had shown her her own strength and what she was capable. She could play with minds and fates, on a small scale and a larger one. Though she had to be alone to learn this strength, as she pushed open the hospital doors and saw her brother sleeping peacefully, she sat down next to him, closing her eyes thinking how grateful she wouldn't be alone much longer.
