Authors Note: This is a series of drabbles…meant to be short…that hopefully will last a while. There is a lot of stress going on in my life and writing is my key to, well, not exploding. Enjoy and review!
Title: Perpetual
Pair: Remus/Tonks
Book: 7
Rated: K+
Remus paced back and forth until he could not stand. He leaned against the wall, and then stood on his feet again not knowing what to do with himself. He pulled at his hair with great strength, peering cross-eyed to look at a single silver hair.
What was he doing? What was he doing? He could not be with a woman who was over a decade younger than he was!
He exhaled and knocked furiously on Tonk's door, not giving it a second thought.
She opened the door and motioned for him to step inside, he hesitated and shook his head. Tonk's welcoming smile vanished… she may be clumsy from time to time but she wasn't stupid. She knew something was up.
"Oh Merlin. What's going on? Is someone hurt?" She asked, searching his face for an answer.
"No, Dora, everyone is alright…I just…I have something to tell you"
He reached for her hand. She took it but with caution.
"Alright… now you're kind of scaring me"
He inhaled deeply and exhaled, reading the confusion and insistence from Tonk's stare.
"I don't think we should see each other anymore. There is too much going on…and I'm just too old for you… I mean look I have grey hair!" Remus showed her the one straggly strand of silver-brown hair that was before her.
She laughed.
"Remus, do you love me?"
He sighed again and answered, grabbing her other hand.
"You know I do"
She smiled. "Then there's no question… age will catch up to everyone eventually…" She began, closing in on Remus's lips. "But love is…perpetual"
