Sitting on the edge of the Astronomy tower, he contemplated his life. Everyone hated him. He had spent his life being shunted from place to place, unwanted. They all had their little groups; teachers, Quidditch stars, and brain boxes. And then him. Alone, ignored by the rest of this miserable world. Albus Dumbledore has taken him in, let him stay at Hogwarts after his parents had died, but he still felt different from all of the others. He had distanced himself, and this had made the rest of Hogwarts grow to despise him. No one would talk to him, but he buried the pain and anguish deep inside, leaving him cold. The sun no longer held any joy; he loathed its brightness, finding comfort in the dark where he could hide. No woman had ever loved him, and he had long ago lost the ability to feel any emotions except the constant ache that filled him. Days and months went by, all merged into one long, grey blur. The world seemed to move on without him, as if it had left him behind. It was going to end. He was tired of being left out. This was going to finish. Free of Voldemort, of this tiring charade of not caring.
A breeze blew across the chill night air, and his robes billowed behind him. Stepping to the edge, he looked down at the hard, unforgiving ground and reveled in the sensation of the wind rushing in his ears. For the first time in years he smiled for the escape he was about made, and for the joy of knowledge that he could finally take his life into his own hads.Opening his arms to embrace his newfound freedom, he allowed himself to topple from the tower, the smile still on his face as his body slammed into the ground.Life was ended, and on his terms.
The headmaster sighed and shook his head, his eyes bright with tears behind his glasses. He had known the lad was unhappy, but he did not think that he would do this. All those tangled webs he had woven, the bitter pain he knew he had harboured in he heart all these years...in a way he was glad for him, for the release from what had been a hard life. A small piece of parchment caught his eye fluttered in the wind out side, and he leant out to snatch it from the air.Written in a strong, decisive hand,it said the one thing that meant the most:
Thankyou.
