The Snake Pit

Summary: Odin eyes those that come to put their petitions and words to him as their ruler within the throne room of the palace of Asguard or as it are known to others 'the snake pit' with nothing sort of contempt at times.

Conflicts and petitions were abound within the great throne room of Asgard's palace, whereas altercations and punch ups might occur elsewhere within the realm, in the throne room before Odin there was nothing but deceit and bitterness, not that many truly showed their feelings when they lost, for court etiquette required better manners than that.

Here before Asgard's ruler, power was at stake, position and prestige something to aim for, the bid for favours and riches beyond compare and debates, over the state of realm and that of its people.

Upon the great throne sat Odin, son of Bor and ruler of Asgard who wearily listened to the words of those who had come before him, as was both his duty and his curse.

Viewing those that stood before him with something close to distaste, but as King something he could never show, lest he wanted to lose his throne, the members of his council and fellow lords, the warriors, silk-trimmed ambassadors from visiting realms, who all stood before him now, within this snake pit.

He trusted none of them for he knew that many would turn on him if given a slightest chance and he would give none of the satisfaction of victory over himself.

A/N: Sorry it is so short this story but it just seemed the right place to end it!
