Goshi's shredded head lay at Shinya's feet, his body meters away where Guren had taken his head and flung it away without a care in the world.
"Guren." Shinya dropped his sword and stepped away as Guren approached. His heel slipped as the ground behind him gave way with an ugly crack like that of breaking bone and he stumbled back over Mitsuba's broken body as her arm resettled on the asphalt.
"Stop it." Shinya regained his footing and stood his ground though Guren said nothing as he approached. Silently flicking blood off his sword as he went, leaving behind a fan of blood on the ground.
"Guren please! Everyone is already dead. Just stop!" He yelled. Guren paused in front of him, looked down at his bloodstained blade and smiled before looking Shinya dead in the eye.
"G-.. Guren?" Shinya slumped over the blade through his stomach, shock blocking the pain from registering in his body. He reached out and placed a hand on Guren's shoulder.
"Come back." He muttered, knees going weak. He grasped at Guren's uniform and choked up his blood down Guren's front. Shinya rested his forehead on Guren's chest and took a deep breath.
The pain was bringing tears to his eyes as the shock wore off. He looked up at Guren's face, his vision fading to black around the edges as he locked eyes with Guren's blasé gaze.
"Come back to me, Guren."
"Shinya!"
Shinya collapsed into Guren's waiting arms. They wrapped around him as Guren stepped over Mitsuba's body and lowered him to the ground, holding him close to Guren's chest.
"Shinya wake up." Guren shook Shinya's body softly and slapped his cheek, smearing the blood trickling from the corner of his lips over his chin as he went to search for a pulse.
"Shinya.." He wasn't breathing and no pulse could be found. Guren buried his face in Shinya's clavicle and hugged him tighter; his body began shaking in silence.
"I'm sorry Shinya. God I'm so sorry."
