To Harry Potter, the Harry Potter books are not stories, they are what happens. Otherwise there would be no point in making him read them to alter the story, right? Logic. What happens is what the books say, and the books say what happens. Otherwise Harry may as well read The Hunger Games for all the good it will do him. If the books are tied to the world, as they would have to be to be of any use, then receiving the books changes the timelime, which changes the books.
"After reading several chapters of this book, confirming details of his (Harry's) past that (he thought) only he could know, Harry read the part about Harry reading the part about Harry reading the part about Harry reading the part about Harry reading the part about Harry reading the part about Harry reading the part about Harry reading the part about Harry reading the part about Harry reading the part about Harry reading the part about Harry reading the part about Harry reading the part about Harry reading the part about Harry reading the part about Harry reading the part about"
