Disclaimer: If I had anything to do with SGA, it would have more than 5 seasons
A/N: OK, So this just popped into my head when I was drifting of to sleep and would not be quiet until I had it written down. Let me know what you think.
Growingup, Ronon had been noticed for his singing. He had been a singer in the choir at the teple in the City he live in on Sateda. He had been raised to believe in a higher power. This higher power was considered to be almost opposite to the Wraith, this power was the bringer of love and life, the bringer of all things good.
When he heard of the battle of Vettaris , Ronon readily signed up to the army to help ward off the invading forces. It was during this war that his prowess became noticed. Ronon becam a formidibale warrior even by Satedan standards, and advanced up the ranks to Specialist – a great honour for someone who had served in the army for such a short time.
When the Wraith showed up, his people stood up to them and fought. Fought for freedom, fought for their lives. Ronon did not really expect to live out the assault. He knew when he led his men that most, if not all, of them would not live though the assault. When he lost Melina, he thought that was the last straw. Untill he was taken by the Wraith.
When It cam to feed he did not flinch. He had lost his home, his heart, what else did he have to lose? And yet It did not feed. It was almost as if It couldn't. He was taken to a place where they put the device in him, and then dumped him on a deserted planet. He watched as a dart dropped a few Wraith on the ground.
He ran.
For seven years, He ran. He could never remember the faces. He just ran.. He took notice of his surroundings – that was vital for his survival and hunting. He once was so close to death he let himself rest. Later, sitting in a tavern, he heard the villiage had been culled. He left immediately and ran.
The first face that he noticed was Ford's. He had just thought that heed been in the sun to long. Turns out he was crazy.
Then he 'met' Teyla and John. When he did, he immediately felt drawn to them. Neither of them were intimidated by him, not did they want to hurt him. They just wanted to find their friend, and even offered to get that tracking device out of him. He did not believe his own trust in the se two strangers, but trust them he did, enough to let them operate on him.
When he returned to Atlantis, he couldn't help comparing him to his old commander. Whilst Kell sacrificed his people to save his life, Sheppard was willing to sacrifice his lif so save his people. This is what led him to respect Sheppard. Ronon was surprised at his quick loyalty to the man. A loyalty that also became a friendship.
He never understood McKay or his ramblings and yet Ronon – beyond his reasoning – became protective of him. Maybe it was McKay's ability to save them on regular occasions, even when he was terrified.
Teyla was one of the few that Ronon got. She became like a sister. An older sister who would laugh and make fun of her brothers (he could tell she considered them brothers also). Or with one simple, reproachful look, shut them up and tell them off.
Even with these new friendships, his greatest shock cameafter having been made a runner again. Hearing bullets shoot the tracker down, he looked up and saw Sheppard and Teyla.
They had come for him.
They had searched the Galaxy for him
They had risked their lives for him.
They still had his back.
When he returned to Atlantis people came up to him and welcomed him home.
It felt as alien to him as the first night on Atlantis. Not because he realised he no longer had to run (he had come to that realization last year) but because, for the first time in almost nine years, he had found a place that he could belong. He had found a place that he could call home.
