Now you've all heard the saying that girls are like apples. Now you've also probably heard about the tree and how the best apples rest on top and the rotten apples stay on the ground. Then only the right boy will climb the tree to get a good apple.
For Austin it was different however. Ally had always liked him but Austin remained oblivious to this. The first apple he picked was a rotten apple named Cassidy.
Cassidy had long blonde hair and icy blue eyes. The day Austin met her, he was head over heels in love. This hurt Ally but being a good friend she decided to help him out.
When Cassidy moved away, the kids at school seemed relieved. Apparently Cassidy had bullied them and some of the boys told Austin they had slept with her before.
So Austin climbed the tree again this time but grabbing another rotten apple named Brooke. She was nice for the most part but was really obessed with her scrapbook. During their last date at the salad bar, she brought all her scrapbooks with her and looked through them the whole date only stopping to tape a cruton into her current scrapbook.
Once again Austin climbed the tree getting about halfway there this time grabbing an apple that was half rotten and half ripe. Her name Kira.
She could be nice but could be verry self absorbed and was verry concerned with being popular.
Dez seemed to notice that Austin was having trouble climbig the tree and decided to explain it to him.
He sat down with Austin for a little chat and began to explain. "Austin, I have noticed you have been having trouble climbing the tree." Dez said in a calm voice. "Huh?" Austiin said confused. "You know the apple tree. They say girls are like apples and the best ones are on top. They also say only the bravest boys reach for the best apples." Dez said.
Now before I continue Ally was waiting outside listening to this. She decided she would tell Austin her feelings. She could feel her heart pounding in her chest.
"But Dez, Cassidy, Brooke and Kira were all good apples!" Austin protested. Dez shook his head. "No they werent Austin. The best apples are sometimes closer then you think." he said before leaving.
Austin sat there confused until he saw a small figure waiting against the door. "Hey." Ally whispered. Austin motioned for her to come in. She sat down next to him and then started crying.
"Ally, whats wrong?" Austin asked. Just then Ally looked him in the eyes and kissed him. Austin was momentarily shocked and didnt kiss back. Just then he realized what Dez meant. Ally was the best apple. She had been waiting for him this whole time while he was off picking the rotten apples.
Just then Ally pulled away and looked down. "I knew you wouldnt feel the same way." she muttered hurt. Just then Austin lifted her head up and pressed his lips to hers. He smiled when he felt her kiss back.
When they pulled away, Ally looked up her eyes sparkling and had a big grin on her face. "Why did you do that?" she asked. "Because I realized you're the best apple on the tree." he said. Ally smiled and he wrapped his arms around her smiling because he had the best apple right next to him.
