You looked happy and healthy and content
Gone was the sadness that always plagued you
And memories of time ill-spent.

Lounging on a beach enjoying the beautiful sun
You couldn't sense that I was there
Your gift from the Powers for all the battles you've won.

I shed tears of joy, I was so happy to see
Your beautiful smile and your happy laughter
The way I always dreamed you would be.

Carrying a basket for a picnic in the park
The irony of it all: while now you can picnic
I still fight demons in the dark.
