The island of lost the lost wizards
The tampered- with portkey
Hermione closed her trunk and opened Crookshanks's
basket.
- Crookshanks! Kitty, kitty, kitty, she called. No cat
came.
- Darn it!
She went downstairs and into the kitchen.
The fist thing she saw was the very messy kitchen table which no one
had bothered to clean, and the second thing was an orange mess of fur
lying underneath it. Hermione bent down and then she could see that
the cat had something in his small grumpy looking mouth. It looked
like a piece of paper, no parchment. A letter! Hermione reached out
her hand to get the letter from the cat, who now noticed her.
-
What are you doing? She shouted at him. As she tried to snatch the
letter, Crookshanks hissed angrily at her. Hermione got hold of it
but was scratched on her wrist by Crookshanks, who obviously felt
offended by having been deprived of his pray.
Hermione sat
herself down on a chair as Crookshanks ran out of the kitchen without
turning back.
- What's got into that stupid cat? Hermione
mumbled to herself. He had never done anything like that before. When
she looked down on the chewed- on letter she saw that a couple of
feathers had gotten stuck in the cat's saliva. He had done it
again! Someone had lost an owl.
Hermione opened the letter and
immediately saw that it was from Ron.
Hermione!
We're
supposed to take a portkey from the hill at 8 AM tomorrow morning.
Dad's got it all fixed. Harry's already here and Ginny has
locked herself in her room again.
I'll see you tonight then.
Ron
Hermione gave a loud sigh. She couldn't wait to
spend two whole weeks with Harry, Ron, Ginny, Fred and George at
Trottshill. She had of course read all she could about the village
and the hotel. There lived only wizards and witches in it and it was
protected by anti-muggle-spells.
But how on earth could she tell
Ron that his owl had been murdered by Crookshanks? He would go
berserk.
Oh, well, she thought. I can't think about that now. I
have to make sure that mom and dad are ready to leave.
She got up
from the chair and went into the living room where Mr and Mrs Granger
were watching TV.
- Aren't you ready yet? She exclaimed. We
have to leave in twenty minutes.
Mr Granger looked up.
-
We're just waiting for you, Moine. Have you got everything packed?
- Yes, Hermione answered. I'm just going to get Crookshanks,
and then we have to go.
She went out of the room without waiting
for a reply. She thought it would be best not to mention that the cat
had just killed an owl. She went upstairs to her room and found
Crookshans on the bed, licking himself contently.
Before he could
move Hermione had grabbed him and put him in the basket.
When
they had managed to jam Hermione's luggage inside the trunk of the
small Ford, they could finally get on their way.
It took about an
hour to get to the Burrow, but Hermione enjoyed the ride. She
pictured herself and her friends at Trottshill, swimming, playing
quidditch and practicing duels. But of course she also had to study
for the coming school year.
When they arrived at the Burrow
Hermione could see Mrs Weasly coming out of the house with a big
smile on her face.
Hermione had barely gotten out of the car
before Mrs Weasley ran up to her han gave her a ribcracking hug.
"Welcome dear" she said smiling while looking at her
fram head to toe. "You've grown a lot haven't you."
