COLD OPEN:
EXT. ALLEYWAY - NIGHT
We see a DEAD MAN, wearing a mask vaguely resembling a walrus' tusks, laying in a puddle of his own blood. We slowly back away, before we see a DARK-CLAD CAPED FIGURE fall into the scene and immediately start to investigate. We pan up to reveal, scowling down at the fallen body, that it is BATMAN.
HARVEY DENT (V.O)
The murder of Moe Blum, a street level enforcer for the Black Mask, was the worst thing to happen in Gotham's long history of organized crime.
Batman searches Moe's body, then pulls out a scanner of some sort, running it over Moe's wounds.
HARVEY DENT (V.O)
Moe himself was never important. What was important was who killed him and why. Police records showed that the stab wounds didn't match the ones you'd normally see from a knife.
Batman removes the murder weapon, what is left of an icicle.
HARVEY DENT (V.O)
Moe's murder wasn't a random act of gang violence, or some big show to call out Gotham's supposed savior vigilante The Batman.
Batman turns, as we see a broken, bloodied umbrella laying in rubble. Batman turns to face the body.
HARVEY DENT (V.O)
This was the Penguin's declaration of war.
Batman sharply turns, his cape obscuring our view.
