Disclaimer: The world of Middle-Earth and everything in it belongs to Tolkien.
A toilsome mission bestowed to you
And a promise made that you should know
No matter what we'll see it through
And by yourself you'll never go
Through marshes murky, muck, and mire
Up steep cliffs, down any mount
Through whatever situation dire
To be with you is all I'll count
I carried you with little strength
To end the task, destroy the burden
It did not matter what the length
Being rid of It had made me certain
We went through much my dear friend
And now at last the quest complete
We were there where all things end
Our doom for sure we were to meet
We escaped our fate, for we were found
Through blinding heat and ashy showers
By eagles, lifted from the ground
Awoken by the scent of flowers
Though when at last we got back home
After shock, dismay, and final fight
You "faded out" to be unknown
I did not see you weren't all right
I never left you, but I wouldn't have guessed
that you never healed and would have to leave me.
With many tears we parted, you journeyed West
Out of Middle-Earth and across the Sea
You made me stay, for a family had I
With much to enjoy and be and do
How could that be? I knew not why
But looking back, I see it was true
My time may come, I heard you say,
The memory of your very last words
We may meet again... sometime...someday
I'll go on Beyond to the cries of sea birds.
