AN: Hi guys! This is really more of a quick pilot than an actual chapter but I promise there will be more! Based after the Giant War and assuming none of the seven (or Nico, obviously) died. This plot was thought up by me and some friends for a roleplay, and honestly it was just too good not to write down.
Seeing as this is my first story and I can be a bit dopey, if I mess up somehow please let me know.
Disclaimer: Sadly, I am no Rick and have no ownership of our beloved characters. But I shall kill them all anyways *discreetly hides chainsaw* What? Nothing!
Despite being a child of the god of the underworld, Nico di Angelo didn't usually hang around murder scenes. An area of massacre, on the other hand, was a completely different story.
Twelve bodies were lying on top of one another in the middle of a side street alleyway at the heart of Manhattan. Each one was grotesquely splayed out over a heap of trash with looks of sheer terror still etched onto their faces. The corpses had been badly mangled, with bones broken clean through the skin and long gashes large enough to allow vital organs to slip out. The hot summer sun beat down on the remains, causing a stench that attracted flies by the thousands. A gold dust was thinly scattered over the scene.
The sight was enough to make anyone in their right mind sick to their stomach, and even managed to make the Ghost King himself a bit nauseous. Despite the unseemly condition of the bodies, the area (minus the trash pile) was free of blood or any sign of a struggle.
Anyone who watches CSI could tell you that the killer murdered these people elsewhere and then dumped the bodies here, but it would almost take a mastermind to kill twelve people in a single day and move all of the corpses without being noticed. The gold dust was a tell-tale sign of monsters being killed as well. Nico clenched his jaw and ground his teeth together, there was no way a mortal could kill all of these humans and a few monsters. The bodies were too neatly piled up for a monster to have killed them - most monsters would've eaten the remains.
"Meow?"
Suddenly pulled back to reality, Nico looked down to find a black cat rubbing against his leg. The son of Hades reached down to feel its grim-covered fur if only of a second before it bolted off.
The son of Hades shook his head and sighed. There wasn't much else he could figure out just by standing around running through theories, and the police were already on their way. He'd have to let the cops take over the investigation for now, maybe they would be able to find something the Nico himself had missed. Whether it was human, monster, or something else entirely, there was definitely a killer on the loose.
As he walked into the dark corner of the alley and shadow-traveled away, Nico didn't notice another boy crawl out from under the dumpster, grinning from ear to ear.
"Oh my, this is just too good to be true." The boy stalked out of the alley, dusting off his leather jacket and whistling as he went.
AN: Told you it was short! More of a quick little teaser I guess. Well? What do you think? Feel free to R&R!
