Grieving brothers and sisters, I feel for your loss. Mary Winchester was a good woman, a good mother. Her husband, John, and two young sons, Sam and Dean, sit among us today bearing more than the physical scars of the fire that took their home. They bare the scars of loss, a loss we all share the pain of. But, my friends, I offer you hope. For Mary may be dead, but she will rise again.
She won't be a ghost. Or a hallucination. Mary will walk among us again, and we will walk with her. God promised us this, and God keeps his promises. He will not abandon us. He will not ignore our prayers. Sam and Dean Winchester will see their mother again when they die and past the end of time.
The Lord said in the book of Revelations, "Once I was dead, but now I am alive forever and ever." This is something we must believe my friends. We must believe that our Lord lives and that we will too, that Mary does too. She has passed on from her first life, but she is the lucky one. She gets to live in His kingdom forever and ever, and someday, if we're lucky we will join her again in His perfect palace.
We are the children of God. Mary Winchester died to save her sons, she died so that they may have life. Christ did the same for us! Mary should not have died, the gas leak that caused the fire was a terrible, horrible, tragedy. Mary was innocent of all punishment, but she sacrificed herself to give her children life. Christ did this too! He was an innocent man, wrongly accused of crimes He, as God, could not commit! He did not blaspheme; he told the truth. He did not incite rebellion; he promoted peace. Yet, Jesus Christ did not fight when they arrested him. He went willingly; He never defended himself; He allowed himself to be beaten, dishonored, and murdered. Why did He do this? Did He enjoy pain? Of course not! He was as human as He was God. Christ felt each lash; he felt each nail, each thorn. Yet, Christ carried on. He allowed himself to die, die a horrible death, because He wanted us to LIVE! Christ died so that though she is gone Mary Winchester can LIVE!
We can learn from Mary's life what we can learn from Christ's life. To suffer and die for those you love is the greatest gift anyone can be given. Mary gave that gift to her sons, and Christ gave that gift for us. Mary would not want her sons to go to Hell and Christ didn't want us to go to Hell! He saved us from the clutches of Satan so that Sam never needs to feel controlled by Lucifer. He saved us so that Dean could know God would never leave him or force him to do something Dean didn't want to do! Christ saved us so that John can feel his wife's presence. So that John can feel peace instead of rage and love instead of revenge.
Mary was the name of Christ's mother as well. Mary mother of God got the chance to teach her son what Mary Winchester didn't, but that doesn't mean Sam and Dean won't know their mothers love. Christ's sacrifice allows us to be connected to those we love, even in death, because of His love. Sam and Dean, through the support of all of you, will know how much their mother loved them just as Christ loved them. And someday, they will die and be with their mother again.
