"I can't believe you actually said that," Jade yelled at Beck
"Jade calm down," Beck said, "I didn't mean it. I was upset. I said it without thinking"
"Yeah, just like the kiss with Tori meant nothing!"
"That didn't mean anything," Beck told her and put on his ipod to try to block out the sound of her moodiness.
That was completely ineffective.
She ripped the ipod off of his ears.
"Look," he said, "I don't know what you're so upset about. I mean it's just-"
"To YOU it's 'just' but to be it's about our relationship," Jade snapped, "You could have talked to me instead of saying what you said. It upset me. It hurt me. It embarrassed me and worst of all it made me feel like you didn't love me anymore. Beck, I've been through a lot. You can't expect me to just be normal right now"
Beck let a single tear fall from his eye. He hadn't realized how disastrous the consequences would be.
"Jade," Beck said, "it's impossible not to love you. You're the most wonderful person I know. Yeah you don't always show compassion all the time but I know the reason behind the bitterness. I see the real you"
"So how could you have said what you said," Jade asked… now in uncontrollable sobs.
"I don't know why I said it," Beck admitted, "I guess I… well I realized it would upset you but I didn't realize how much"
"If you realized it would upset me why did you say it in the first place," Jade asked
"Again," Beck admitted, "I guess I didn't have on the ol' thinking cap"
Beck realized he had been pretty insensitive towards Jade lately. He didn't know why. He supposed in part it was because he was irritated due to an argument they had not so long ago. He also knew that he was trying to impress his friends. He wasn't doing such a great job at that. He wasn't even impressing himself.
A lot had changed since Jade and Beck first got together. His love wasn't one of those things.
"I didn't mean it," he said, "and from now on I'm going to start being more sensitive to your feelings and your needs."
She put her hands on her hips.
"I'm going to hold you to that," she told him
Beck grinned. He KNEW she WOULD hold him to it. He loved that she would hold him to it. Jade made him a better person. She DETAINED his stupidity and turned him into someone he was proud to call himself.
