Little Sherry fic from Sandra's point of view which I thought of when I was walking to school today. It features my favorite Taylor Swift song 'Stay, Stay Stay'

Set during Series 10 of New Tricks.

I don't own Taylor Swift's music or the New Tricks characters.

Reviews would be lovely!

I'm pretty sure we almost broke up last night.
I threw my phone across the room at you.
I was expecting some dramatic turn-away,
but you stayed

Okay, the row with Gerry last night did get rather... heated, let's say. He should have known that yesterday was a delicate day for me. 38 years ago yesterday my dad committed suicide. I'm crying now, angry upset and confused. But Gerry has stayed with me despite all that's happened, despite my dad's past and the way he died.

This morning I said we should talk about it.
'Cause I read you should never leave a fight unresolved.
That's when you came in wearing a football helmet and said "okay, let's talk."

I go downstairs to get my mobile to ring Gerry, and I'm very surprised to see him snoring on the sofa. He wakes up and looks surprised to see me standing there. 'Gerry, I'm sorry for last night. I was grumpy and upset.' I tell him, tears running down my face.

And I said,
Stay, stay, stay.
I've been lovin' you for quite some time, time, time.
You think that it's funny when I'm mad, mad, mad.
But I think that it's best if we both stay.

'I understand.' He tells me, pulling me gently into his arms. I know that he'd never leave me, whatever we go through. He kisses me gently on the top of my head, rubbing my shoulders.

Before you, I'd only dated self-indulgent takers,
that took all of their problems out on me.
But you carry my groceries, and now I'm always laughin'.
And I love you because you have given me no choice but to:

Stay, stay, stay.
I've been lovin' you for quite some time, time, time.
You think that it's funny when I'm mad, mad, mad.

I've been punched, kicked and treated like dirt by previous partners. Gerry would never do that, he'd kill anyone who would hurt me.

The future looks bright, because it's ours. Mine and Gerry's. We're facing the future together.
