"It's following us," Penelo whispered urgently, latching onto Vaan's arm as they trekked through the Giza Plains, soaked to the bone with rainwater.

Balthier chanced a glance over his shoulder from the front of the party and spotted the glittering Storm Element hovering behind them.

"I wouldn't cast any magick if I were you," he warned, turning his attention back to the large Gigantoad that had just leapt out of the water. He saw Fran cock her bow just as he readied his spear.

The Hyena came out of nowhere; it's horn catching him in the side. Crying out in pain, he fell back several paces. Vaan rushed in, sword at the ready and with one hit, struck the Hyena across the back of its neck. Vertebrae snapped and the Hyena fell over with a cry. The Gigantoad moved toward Balthier as he searched his pouches for a spare Potion, well aware of the Storm Element still hovering a few meters away.

A shield blocked the massive toad from landing its mark and Balthier had to fight back a sigh of relief as Basch stepped between him and Gigantoad, his axe in hand. He finally found the small vial and downed the Potion in one gulp, well aware of the sudden heat from the Storm Element as it drifted closer.

"Damn," he muttered as Basch and Fran took down the Gigantoad. Ashe gazed curiously at him and he shook his head, straightening up and ignoring the pain that traveled down his side from the still open wound.

He grabbed Basch's arm to steady himself before he fell to his knees in the mud.

"Think of it like a pet," Vaan said to Penelo as the Storm Element floated between them, lightning energy crackling.

"Oh yes," Balthier said dryly.

"We should continue moving," Basch said suddenly as Vaan made a vague gesture toward Balthier and white magick closed the wound on the sky pirate's side. Everyone looked at Vaan in surprise.

"What?"

The Storm Element crackled menacingly and burst with energy.

Balthier opened his mouth to say something sharp to the boy and realized with a start that the Element had cast Silence on them. Straightening up, he nudged Basch and pointed to the narrow path ahead of them.

There was a static sound as the Storm Element attacked and with shared looks, the party took off running, the Storm Element at their heels.

"Rather a vicious pet don't you think?" Balthier asked later while Fran handed out Echo Herbs to everyone.
