"EGG HUNT"

Sammy woke up in his usual way, lying there for a few minutes to get his bearings - the layout of the motel room, which town they were in, where his dad was this time.

Dean lay in the other bed asleep, flat on his stomach with one arm curled under the pillow, subconsciously touching the knife he always had hidden there, but denied to Sam. No doubt Dean had been up late again keeping watch like he does every night they are left alone in yet another foreign motel room.

Sammy tried his best to stay quiet while attempting to make his sleeping brother breakfast. But when he opened the drawer with the spoons and knives, excitement got the better of him and all else was forgotten.

"Dean! Dean wake up!"

Dean awoke to his little brother shaking him and calling his name. Though blurry eyed and a little foggy in the head he immediately sat straight up and took Sam by the shoulders to look him over.

"what's wrong? Are you hurt?"

"What? No! Dean look…" Sammy had a shiny foil wrapped chocolate egg cradled in his two hands and was peering at it with utter wide eyed excitement.

"Cool! Hey you better have a good look around Sammy, there's never just one ya know!" With that the two brothers went looking high and low for more. There were eggs everywhere – on the shelves, on top of the curtains, even a one hidden in the desk-lamp. By the end Sammy (who had done the majority of the hunting – prompted by his big brother) had found 12 eggs of varying sizes and colors.

"Thanks Dean" Sammy said while nibbling on one of his stash that he had split with his brother.

"What for?" Dean answered curiously while digging in to his own supply.

"I know it was you who did this. I mean, I already know Santa's not real, do you really expect me to believe that a giant bunny who hops around hiding eggs is?"

Stunned, Dean remained silent for a minute while contemplating his reply. "Was a bit of a stretch I admit – but it was fun though. I just figured we could use a distraction after being stuck here for the past few days"

"Yeah, it was fun. Thanks again Dean!" And with that the two sat there swapping eggs and passing the time until their dad returned and they made their way to Uncle Bobby's.
