Traces of Blood

Phoenix walked into his office. He came late, actually. He was oversleeping today. His blue eyes looked into the office door which was open.

'That's strange…Is Maya forget to close the door? How careless she is…'

He walked inside the office, looked around, but didn't find what he searched. "Maya… are you here?" he tried to call her, but what he got was no answer.

'Where is Maya?'

He heard a sound of a television.

'Maybe she is watching TV so she doesn't hear me. Well, I guess I just go to that room…'

As he walked, he noticed something. He looked carefully to address that. And he shocked when found that was something that didn't suppose here.

Traces of blood.

He ran into the inner room. The television was still on, but no one here. There were also some traces of blood in his room. Phoenix was starting to be panic.

'Wait… maybe that wasn't blood… Maybe that only ketchup or something likes that…'

He looked carefully again, but that exactly a blood. He felt faint. But he tried to search for Maya. He searched all of the room. Even in toilet or in cupboard, but he didn't find her.

'Whe… where are you?!'

He tried to call her with his phone. After a while, a sound of Maya's ringtone was heard by Phoenix in this room. She didn't bring her phone. Get more panicked, he rushed toward the door, ran into the outside, passed the crowd, and looked around worriedly. He tried to find Maya. But that was useless. He couldn't find her figure anywhere.

The defense attorney sat at the chair near him. He felt really lost, didn't know what he must do. He looked faintly into the crowd, and he noticed something.

Maya was walking across the road.

"Maya!" he ran, tried to catch her. The spirit medium, who noticed him, ran away. Phoenix didn't know why she ran, but he thought he could ask her later when he caught her.

And they met dead end. Phoenix grabbed her hand, looked straight at her face. "Maya, why you run? What happen in the office when I didn't already come?!

Maya looked pale at him. She said something in low voice. "I'm sorry, Nick…"

Phoenix shook his head, gazed at Maya. "That's okay. Just tell me. Why there are traces of blood in our office? Are you hurt? Is someone hurt you? Or are you hurt someone?"

Maya took a breath. "I'm sorry, Nick, that happen so suddenly…"

"I said this before, is okay. Just tell me." He wanted an answer from that girl. Maya felt really guilty even he said something like that.

"It happen when I watched the TV. I realized it after that. Panicked, I changed my clothes and ran to supermarket to buy that, forgot to close the door and turn off the TV. I didn't know in this month, it will come today. It wasn't like previous month. I'm really sorry, Nick. I promise I will clean it…"
