Forever
A Rise of the Guardians Oneshot
The world is ending. There's nothing we can do. It's th time to say goodbye. It's been 5 billion years since I first became a Guardian. Even back then we knew this was coming. We've known it was coming forever. But we never knew how hard it would be to say goodbye.
For billions of years, the Earth has been inhabited, and there are a few reasons for this. But the most important is the sun. Animals need heat. Plants need the suns energy. And the water that sustains them? The water cycle needs heat. That's just the way it is.
But the sun is a star. And stars are fire. Fire can't burn forever.
15 minutes to go
Tooth sobs as she hugs the other Guardians for the last time.
"I just can't believe it's over!"
"I know Toothie. I know."
Millions of miles away, the sun flares.
13 minutes to go
Jack turns to Bunny. "You know Kangaroo, as much as I've denied it, you've really grown on me. You're not that bad Fluffy.
Bunny smirked. "Ditto mate." Jack can win the final battle. He's earned it.
The suns energy sparks.
11 minutes to go
Jack turns toward North. "North, you've been like a father to me." North swallows his tears, and nothing more needed to be said.
The suns energy spikes.
10 minutes to go
Jack gives the little man a small smile. "Sandy, you've been my big brother therapist." Sandy smiles, and gives Jack a thumbs up.
Another flare.
9 minutes to go
"Tooth." Jack chokes. "I don't know what to say about you. You stuck by me when no one else did, and I've never forgotten that."
More flares. They are larger, brighter, and are coming faster now.
8 minutes to go
"Jack..." Tooth whispers. "I want you to know that I've loved you since the beginning." And the two shared their first and last kiss.
The sun explodes into a fiery ring of light.
5 minutes to go
The Big Five embrace. They may have their rough patches, but they are more than a team now. They are a family. And they will stick together until the end. For forever and a day.
The explosion burst forward at the speed of light. It engulfs the Earth and Moon and all is over.
Sandy opens his mouth, and for the first time he speaks, letting the Guardians hear the magical voice of the oldest spirit. "Forever."
Fin.
A/N Yeah, not what I usually write. To much emotional stuff. But y'all know what? I'm super bored. And I just watched World War Z and suddenly I remembered this idea that was in my head for a sad little doomsday one shot and I wrote it. So there. Anyways, all of my Crazy fans should know that this is not in any way related to Crazy.
