"I don't think I can do this" and he walked out leaving her to wonder what she had done.

Did she say something wrong? Did she hurt him? She can't believe this. After all they've been through he chooses to leave rather than stay and fight? He's a coward. She deserves better than that. No one deserves this. A single tear trickles down her cheek and onto my pants. She needs to forget about him. She can't dwell on the past. She needed to make myself OK for her daughter.

The next day when she went back to work, she did her best to avoid him but it was inevitable, they shared the same practice and even some patients. This was not going to be a good day; that much she could tell.

She went into the supply closet when she needed a break from all her coworker's insistent stares. Then she realized this was where they had gone when they needed a break or just each other. She couldn't be here with all the memories threatening to suffocate her. She burst out of the closet breathless and crying. This was not going to work. Not as long as she was near him all the time. She knew what needed to be done.

She went home and packed her bags and took her daughter with her. She left a note for him. It read:
Honey, I am sorry to go like this I took Megan with me and we are leaving. We will not be back ever. I do not expect anything from you. Do not come looking for us. You don't need to send us money, we will get that ourselves. We will be fine. Just, whatever you do, don't come for us. I will always love you, you know who.

After she left the note, she took her young daughter and left, never to be seen or heard from again.
