-Soul Deep in Troubled Waters-

( A Bishop poem)

Dark and foreboding,

Animalistic and with undertones of self-loathing

Full of mystery

Caught in a shell of self-inflicted misery

You wrap those walls around you so

Spreading trouble and pain wherever you go

A survivor and hunter you are

Burns and cuts that mar

Your handsome features that you cover up with masks of woe and hate

Brought on by an unfortunate fate

You think of hope as something far away

Yet you need only to know the way

Past the barriers of lies you built around your being

And to change your view of the world, a new way of seeing

Then I come along

The battle within you is strong

Emotions which threaten to break you

Yet you push them away like they were dirt on your shoe

Fighting to control your will

Drinking deep until you've had your fill

You struggle within

Denying yourself and pushing yourself deeper into a cocoon of false truths therein

You hate me and you love me

You do not know which side of you, you should be

Its all my fault you say

For making you feel this way

Are you really so blind?

To think that love is unkind?

You say its all about a debt

But there is more to that, I bet

You run and run

To get away from me only to come back full circle, again undone

You believe its too much to take

But I come to show you for your own sake

That two can be together as one

Its alright, hun

But anger comes again, you want me to pay

So instead, you destroy the gates to send the undead on their way

To dispose of me

Yet inside you'll never be fully rid of me

You may think you have won

But dear, this battle has barely just begun
