Disclaimer: I don't own them, I'm not making any money.
Author's Notes: Ok, this is kinda stupid and I think it's funny, but maybe I'm weird. I got this idea from Starlight's scenes you'd never see in DA, so thanks so much for the inspiration! J Don't take this too seriously!

The smell from his kitchen was delicious. My mouth began to water as I imagined things I'd never tasted before. He never ceased to amaze me. As I walked into the kitchen he looked slightly startled but then smiled and I marveled at the way it lit up his face. His eyes were wide open in apparent surprise, and I tossed my coat down, trying to ignore his expression.
"I wasn't expecting you, Max…" He sounded almost apologetic and embarrassed. Weird. Normally he was thrilled when I stopped over. I hoped everything was alright.
"Is this OK?" I asked, not wanting to make him uncomfortable.
He smiled and waved a hand dismissively at me. This only confirmed my suspicions. He always denied everything. I laughed to myself. Kinda like me.
I picked up my coat I had tossed over the back of a chair. "I'll go, don't worry."
"No!" he said immediately and then seemed to get in control of himself. "It was a good surprise."
I raised my eyebrows in disbelief but then decided to stay anyways. I threw my coat over the chair again and walked over to look into the pot he was stirring. He seemed to grow a little more rigid. What was going on?
Instead I said, "What are you making?"
He didn't answer immediately and he shifted his chair slightly so he was not facing me directly. So he couldn't look me in the eyes.
Instantly I got angry. Why did he always pretend nothing's going on? The silence dragged on still and I cleared my throat impatiently.
"Well?" Still nothing. Another minute passed.
"What the hell Logan!" I exploded. "If something's going on, tell me!" I grabbed onto his wrists that were clutching his armrests and still his eyes refused to meet mine. I could feel his pulse leaping and couldn't tell if it was his close proximity or whatever it was he wasn't telling me. I was probably gripping harder than I should've but at that point I didn't care.
He swallowed with difficulty but didn't struggle in my grasp. His head was still turned, looking into the simmering pot and suddenly I got a feeling of desperation as I wondered if something was really going on. When he finally answered it was so soft that I could barely hear him.
"Hamburger Helper, Max…"
