Snow Angels

Cas set underneath the Christmas tree the boys had set up at Bobby's, making him look like a present for them come Christmas morning. He stared at the ornament in his hand, a red bulb that had fallen off and smashed to pieces. Dean and Sam had both left at separate times to buy the other gifts, and Bobby was no where to be seen. But Cas felt like crying as he stared at the ornament that he had accidentally broke.

"I'm so sorry little buddy." Cas said as he stared at the broken pieces. He decided to go outside then. He didn't care if the boys told him to try to stay in the house today, since there was a snow storm on the way. It was supposed to drop a least a foot of snow soon. And the first flakes were beginning to fall, covering the cold green grass with a white dusting.

The ornament had an angel on it, which made Cas feel even more upset. He felt like he had betrayed one of his own by bumping into the tree and making the thing fall. So now he was going to bury the thing in the ground before it was frozen too much.

He knelt on the ground, more snow here than he thought there was, and dug a hole in the ground, burying the shards in the cold ground. He realized then that the snow actually looked like fun. He had never had the chance to look at the snow like this before. Usually, he was too busy for such an occasion. But today was different. So he laid down in the snow, moving his arms and legs like how he saw the children in those TV shows and movies that Dean and Sam were watching. He couldn't remember the term that this practice was called, but they seemed to enjoy it. That's when he remembered another custom that these children in these events use to do. He cracked a small smile as he jumped up and hid in a tree, awaiting his plan.

Sam and Dean arrived back at Bobby's about the same time. Since this happened, they couldn't take their packages in that they had gotten. They were casually walking towards the house when Sam was hit in the head with something. He fell backwards with a thud.

"Sam!" Dean yelled. That's when something hit him in the shoulder. He looked at it to see pieces of snow dripping down from the jacket sleeve. He looked up at the trees to see Cas standing there, smiling at them, a snowball in hand.

"You have strange customs." Cas said. He threw the snowball that he had, hitting Sam who had just pulled himself off of the ground. "But they sure are, how you say, fun." Sam cast a look over at Dean, with a sinister smile on his face.

"Oh, it's on." Dean said. He packed a snowball tightly and threw it at Sam, hitting him in the chest and forcing him out of the tree. He forcefully hit the ground and just laid there. Sam and Dean looked at each other in shock before running forward.

"Cas?" Sam asked as he ran to him. Dean was right there with him.

"Cas man, you okay?" He asked. That's when he saw the shiny red on the snow. Dean and Sam thought that they had really killed the angel, or at least mortally wounded his vessel, when Cas quickly sat up and threw two perfect snowballs at the boys. Sam and Dean were in shock as they stared at him.

"What?" He asked as they wiped snow off of their face.

"We thought we killed you!" Dean yelled. Cas looked at him strange.

"Why would you think that?" He asked.

"There's red in the snow!" Sam yelled, pointing at the red that was right where Cas had landed. Cas looked back at that.

"Oh." He said. He went and grabbed the red and held it up, revealing that it was glass. "It's a broken ornament that had an angel on it. I decided to bury it." Dean and Sam looked at each other before looking back at Cas. But that's when they got hit with snowballs. "Game on!"
