She comes running in

Chest heaving and eyes wild

The twist of her hips as she looks over her shoulder

How the fabric rustles over her flushed skin

Practically sinful

.

She doesn't look at him at first

Heels clicking

Gun at point

She strides to the console

Radiating confidence and spoilers

She throws a lever

Sends them into space

.

And then when they're away

She turns

Her lips parted as she exhales

And a smile tugging on her face

Barely breaking

.

Those curls mock him

They bounce and sway

And move with her

The elegance

The mystery

The beauty

Pure and simple and complex

.

He asks her why she needed the gun

And he can feel the answer in the air

In her hair

The way it's electrified

And different

And wonderful

Spoilers

A promising curse

.

He catches a whiff of flowers

And time

As she walks by

A smirk tainting her blood red lips

Sparkling her eyes

She finds it amusing

He finds his double hearts pounding

Rattling in his chest

Dare she get too close

He might just snap

Damn self control

.

She holsters her gun

Taps a finger to her cheek

Resting her chin in her palm

And asks if he'd like to go on an adventure

He's distracted

.

Her hair confuses him

Her eyes enchant him

And her lips mesmerize him

The voice she uses soothes him

Like a warmth he's never known

He almost tells her that

But she frowns at his far off look

A familiar term of endearment falls from her lips

And it breaks the moment

Neither seem to care

.

He asks what kind

She holds up an artifact

Manicured nails curling around it

She tells him she's become Robin Hood

Sort of

He likes a bad girl

He doesn't know about this kind though

She reassures him that she'd only stolen it back

.

Her hair lights up

Like fireflies

When she's happy

When he agrees to help

He sees her teeth as her lips stretch back

Then she walks over

Personal boundaries obliterated

Lips on now red cheeks

A warm hand on a taller shoulder

And he can't breathe

Her hair tickles him

She pulls back

Flowers quickly fading

Eyes lightening

Pupils contracting

And he finds himself smiling back

Because she is so damn irresistible

And he knows that she's dancing just like him

.

The way she talks

And walks

And smiles at him

He wants to lunge at her

And devour her

And hug her and never let go

.

She's River Song

His gun slinging

Spoiler infested

Funny

Clever

Absolutely Beautiful

a/n: because this is what I think the fluffier side of River and the Doctor's relationship is - the bit we get to see at least. Also, I thought that poetry format fit better for the feelings I was trying to convey rather than a traditional story format. However, because I'm very, very new to poetry I'd be delighted if you took a moment to review and just let me know your thoughts. Thank you!
