CLOSER THAN BROTHERS

AUTHOR'S NOTE/DISCLAIMER

The relationship between Jason and Tommy through the eyes of Jason's father. Power Rangers belongs to Haim Saban, Fox Kids, and Disney. A vague reference to "The Green Dream".

Frank Scott knew that his son and Tommy Oliver were exceptionally close, but he couldn't tell you why. They hung out together every day, sparring, talking, and listening to music. But he also sensed that there was a deeper connection. He couldn't forget how when they first became friends, Tommy's eyes would often have this haunted look. Whenever Jason noticed the look, he'd put a hand on his shoulder and squeeze it. Or, how Tommy would frequently show up at Jason's window. He had heard a part of one of their conversations once or twice, but they hadn't make sense. He had heard Tommy blame himself for something and Jason saying that it wasn't his fault, that he had been mind-warped…whatever that meant. Then there had been another time when apparently things had been really bad for Tommy, because he had heard him crying. Concerned, he had walked up to Jason's room and was surprised to hear Tommy repeating the words "Sorry, so sorry" over and over. Jason had just held him tightly murmuring in his ear. At first he hadn't been able to hear his son's response, but then his voice had grown louder and more firm as he had seen his son grab his friend's chin forcing him to look him in his eyes.

"It was not your fault, Bro. It was all him."

"But I hurt---"

"It was just a nick. I'm fine." That had caused the man some concern because he couldn't remember seeing a wound. However, when he had knocked, both boys had jumped and when questioned, played the conversation off. Yes, Tommy and Jason's bond ran deep, and that was something Frank admired…even if he didn't understand why they were so close.

AUTHOR'S NOTE

The vague reference to "The Green Dream" was in the dialogue "But I hurt---" "It was just a nick. I'm fine." I figured with the way Tommy waved the Sword Of Power around, it was very possible for at least one of the Rangers to get injured, even with their fast reflexes.
