THE DOWNFALL
OF THE
LORD OF THE RINGS
AND WHAT
HAPPENED AFTER
Then Frodo kissed Merry and Pippin, and last of all Sam, and went aboard; and the sails were drawn up, and the wind blew, and slowly the ship slipped away down the long grey firth; and the light of the glass of Galadriel that Frodo bore glimmered and was lost. And the ship went out into the High Sea and passed on into the West.
THE NEXT DAY
Gandalf strokes his beard thoughtfully (which he does when he feels almost any emotion). "So. . . ." he says. "Who brought the food?"
"I think we're lost," Elrond says, looking at a map.
"THAR SHE BLOWS!" Bilbo yells, "THE WHITE WHALE!"
"I do believe a storm is coming." Galadriel declares, looking at the sky.
Gandalf looks at Frodo, still stroking his beard. "Frodo," he says, "Do you know how to fish?"
"No, Gandalf," he replies, "but shouldn't we worry about water first?"
"SOMEONE GIVE ME A HARPOON!" yells Bilbo.
"Why Frodo," Gandalf continues, "We are on the sea. Water is surrounding us." "Gandalf, it's full of salt! I am not drinking that!"
"Maybe we should not have left," says a random Elf to another. "I much prefer my old life to this chaos."
Screamed insults and the sound of Frodo being pushed overboard.
