"Rose Tyler-"

Oh, the Timelord who always runs out of time. A cosmic joke, if you like, that the renegade Timelords always were late, or inaccurate, or timeless. All the renegades, they all would run out of time.

But then, there's the exception that proves the rule. And the Doctor has always been a fan of rule-breaking.

He'd been a prodigy, when it came to his Time-Sense. Not that he did well in any other subject; he never even used his it as well as he could've.

But, it meant that as a renegade, an exile, as the last of his species, his Time-Sense was as good as any Timelord.

So, when he said to Rose, "about two minutes," what he really meant was 'exactly one minute, twenty-seven seconds'. Because he knew. He could feel every second, every nanosecond falling through his hands like sand in an hourglass.

And he knew. He whittled down the time they had left, slowly but surely.

Because he was a coward, every time, and he hated himself for it.

Not-quite-drabble (it's about 160 words) that's kinda angsty. Because I like to think that the Timelords were very sensitive to time - we've had hints, what with the sensing of fixed points in time, as well as the thing that Nine says at the end of The Parting of the Ways about being able to everything that ever was or will be, all the time. So, yeah. Review please! :)
