My name is Rachel.
We are not normal. Not that obvious, is it? You probably know two or three Rachels. All of them are normal, right? If they are, you probably don't know me.
If you think you know me, well, let me make it easy: You don't. Not all, anyway.
Who is "We?" Well, there's Jake, Cassie, Marco, Tobias, and Ax.
Jake is my cousin, and the discreet leader of the Animorphs. But he doesn't do it for glory. He does it because no one else will. He's the kind of person who won't complain until he knows everyone else is safe. His hair is sort of short, sort of long. He parts it in the middle most of the time so it doesn't get in his eyes. He's also sort of Cassie's boyfriend. Shh!
Cassie. She wants to be a veterinarian after college. Probably because her parents both work with animals. We all acquired our first morphs at The Gardens. Cassie got us in because her mom works there. The barn she and her dad work in, we use that for our meeting place. There are a lot of injured animals there that we can morph. If Cassie were to go shopping with her best friend, I would practically have to drag her behind me. Cassie is the only one who can convince Marco to go on missions with us.
Marco the Skeptic. He can get from point A to point B without anything in between. Then we fill in all the missing details. Marco also likes to make fun of people. He was the first one to call Ax, well, Ax. He made up the word Animorphs. Animal-Morpher. His mother was infested by a tiny Yeerk with big dreams. It was successful, too, which is why she is now Visser One. He is short, but still calls himself the "Cutest Animorph." Totally not true.
That would be Tobias. He has a sharp, yellowish-orangish beak. His pointy talons, also yellowish-orangish, can rip apart a young leveret, and he eats it while it's heart is still beating. Disgusting, cruel, but that is how a red-tailed hawk must survive. Actually, I would call him a rust-tailed hawk. He is really a human, though. With long - well, long by male standards - blonde hair, and soulful, understanding dark brown eyes. We like each other. We really do. Like Jake and Cassie like each other.
Hmm. That only leaves Marco and Ax.
Creepy. Too strange to think about.
Ax is Tobias' "Uncle", and an Andalite. He has the body of a blue centaur, splotches of tan fur on his chest, no mouth, three slits for a nose, and two extra stalk eyes on his head. On his rear end, however, he has a tail that vaguely resembles a scorpion's. We first found him in the most unlikely of places - the bottom of the ocean. The part of the spaceship he was on was blasted off and he fell towards earth. It was then - or about then, anyway - that he became a sort of off - Animorph.
