She was cheated out of her childhood.
At 16, she was forced to go out into the darkness and emerge a heroine.
And she did.
She actually became one.

She died.
Not once, but twice.
The first time it was a vampire that killed her.
One, she could have avoided. She could have run from and left her
friends to deal with.
The second, an all powerful god after the blood of her little sister.
She was killed the first time.
The second, she sacrificed herself.

She fell in love with a vampire.
The Slayer, in love with one of the ancient ones.
And not just any vampire, a vampire with a soul.
But, after they made love, he reverted back to his evil self and she
was forced to kill him to save the world.

From giant snakes to horned creatures of the night, she's seen it all.
She's been there, done that, and kicked its ass.
Saved the world countless times, and gotten grounded for it.
And she's never gotten a 'thank-you' when the world didn't explode.

From the first moment they labeled her 'Slayer', she's been alone.
From her father to her Watcher, every man she has ever loved, ever
needed, has left her to stand on her own.
And she managed to stand tall when others would have crumbled.

She lost her mother.
After saving the world so many times, she wasn't able to save her own
mother. Something she will be forced to live with until she dies.

She's graced heaven.
She's known the warmth of eternal bliss, and moments later, the horror
of clawing her way from her coffin.

She stands alone against the darkness.
With her friends to help her, still she stands alone.
For she is the Slayer, and it is how things have to be.

Buffy Anne Summers.
'She saved the world a lot' hardly covers it.
