Summary: a poem of Edward'sthoughts about his life
This Path…
This path I took so long ago,
Regrets and fears still at toe,
Looking back on those days,
Wish they never had to change.
I remember playing in the grass,
The sun was shining like glass,
Laughter and smiles,
Seen and heard for miles.
Then came that fateful day,
When all of it was taken away,
A mistake I made you paid the toll
I knew it all, yet did not know.
Your screams of pain were all I heard,
Before my eyes, you disappeared,
But I refused to let you go,
Was not your time, this I know.
I gave my limbs, just to do,
Shedding blood, just for you,
Sealing you in an iron doll,
A cold metal shell, standing tall.
I fought hard through and through,
That someday in my mind, I knew,
I 'd return you to your flesh and blood,
And you'd be at my side like you should.
Along my path, more lives were taken,
Out of my reach, now forsaken,
I cried for them, till I could cry no more,
I grew up, and became more sure,
That I couldn't go back anymore.
So now my path nears it's end,
Finally, you were at my side again,
But alas,
I had one last price to pay,
I had to go I could not stay,
Looking back, I regret that now,
I should've stayed, someway somehow.
This is the path I choose,
So many years ago,
Even I do not where it goes,
But I hope you will be where I go,
Memories of you are not enough,
But I must be strong I must tough,
And I must remember…
This is my path, the one I choose.
