"I don't want to be a part of the problem

I try so hard to get roughed up

Fists on up, it looks that easy"

"Stupid mirror, just- just start working!" a voice pleaded, hands clenched. "Make my hai-"
"Tonks darling, everything OK?" came the voice of Molly Weasley from the door, flour scattered across her apron, smile perched on her face, eyes bearing through the metamorphamagus.

"I'm-I'm just fine Molly, no worries" Tonks said casually picking up her robes. "Breakfast ready?"

I never wanted to lose my morphing ability because of him, because of love, because of truth. I just want pink hair, I want a guise. Normalcy, that's all.

"But then there's you, telling me I can"

Her last exchange with a certain werewolf made the witch groan in frustration, tossing her robes down the stairs.

"Damn you Lupin, I can't OK, I CAN'T!" the witch muttered in frustration.

"Talking to yourself again, dear cus?" came Sirius's voice as he walked out of the kitchen. "Not healthy, y'know. Signs of a loo-" but his bantering suddenly stopped as his eyes fell upon Tonks. "Your hair-it's.."

"Exactly"

"But there's you screaming say something"

Memories haunted her, the sole argument playing in bits across her eyes.

"Nymphadora, I'm too-" he had started to say.

"I know, I KNOW, old, poor and dangerous- stop it Remus, STOP! Say something else, say anything else, that isn't an op-"

He had left the room in anger, looking back only to say, "It's the only option I can utter. "

Her hair had promptly become mousy brown.

"There I am in the morning

I don't like what I see
I don't know how it became such a problem"

Tonks had flitted around all night, pacing in front of the mirror, pleading for its cooperation. Her mind had tried to tell her it was just a prank, her dear cousin playing with her or the wild Weasley twins. But no matter the pulled face she made or how hard she scrunched her eyes, her morphing abilities were shot.

And for a werewolf.

"No, no, for a genuine and beautiful man with a furry little problem" Tonks whispered sadly glancing at her brown locks and sighing. "Bullocks"

"How can they ask why I feel so angry

Do you see my problem if I explain it"

"Tonks dear, do sit and stay a bit" Molly coaxed gently after the Order meeting had adjourned. "I'll be making dinner soon enough"

The Aurors eyes had immediately fallen on Remus, sitting causally but taut at the tables end, gauging her reaction.

Tonks smiled and gave Molly a quick hug. "I've got- y'know, things to get to Molly. But thank you for your offer; perhaps another-" she glanced at him. "-time"

"But there's you asking how long

Say something, it's taken me so long"

"Tonks- wait, we need to talk."

Damn him and that professor voice.

"Your appearance…can't you change it? You're dragging this ou-"

"Dragging? WERE YOU A PROFESSOR OR NOT? I can't morph Lupin. Not one bit and don't you dare- don't you ever think I haven't tried to change-" the young with gestured dramatically towards herself. "this little problem. Just like you and your furry little problem, mine isn't going away either"

Tonks had slammed the door for effect, but couldn't help standing against the wall, head in her hands.

"I never wanted to be a sop for love, never, Remus J. Lupin. Look what you've done."
