The Other Side

Pain. Searing pain. Then nothing. Regina could see and feel nothing. Everything was black. Darkness everywhere. She then saw a beautiful white light in the distance. There was a face there to. It was familiar, but hard to make out. Regina walked closer and almost fell over because of who she saw.

"Daniel!" she cried running into his arms.

"Regina" he said sweetly, his face beaming back at hers. "I've missed you."

"I've missed you to."

They stared at each other for a few moments, taking each other's presence in.

Daniel then gave a look of sadness and worry. He took Regina's face in his hands and turned it to the right then the left, almost crying at the sight of her burns. Daniel kissed her temples and lightly stroked her index finger where her other burn mark was. He held her close.

"I'm sorry I was unable to save you" he whispered in her ear.

"You saw what happened?" Regina asked.

Daniel nodded. He took Regina's hand in his and they walked. They walked to nowhere in particular, just though the endless bright light.

"I have been watching you since I came here" he said

"Where is here exactly?"

"The other side" Daniel replied simply.

"Does this mean I'm dead?"

"I'm not sure."

"Well, for a dead woman, I feel very much alive" Regina said seductively.

She stopped and wrapped her arms around the love of her life, pulling him into a passionate kiss. It was long and felt just like how it did all those years ago.

When they finally pulled away, Regina came to a sudden and sad realization.

"If you have been watching me, then you know about the things I have done and what others did to me"

"Yes. I'll admit I am saddened by all that has happened."

Daniel lifted up Regina's chin so she was staring directly into his eyes.
"Even so, when I look at you I see the woman I fell in love with. I know that, given time, Storybrooke will see it to" he continued.

Regina shook her head.
"They'll never see that side of me. All they see is the Evil Queen."

"I know there is more to you than that. Show them Regina. They need you."

"No one needs me. Everyone will get along just fine without me."

"I think we both know that's not true." Daniel replied.

"All I know right now is that I want to stay here with you."

Daniel looked at her sadly and went silent.

"What? What is it?" Regina said nervously.

Daniel looked down, unable to look her in the eyes.

"You have to let me go"

"Why? Do you not love me anymore? Is it something that I've done? If it is, Daniel we can fix it. Please… just let me stay" she pleaded.

"I love you very much Regina. In fact, I love you so much that I realize letting you hang on to me is unfair" Daniel replied.

"But I love you" she cried. "We can be together now, just you and me. That's all I want. Please Daniel, I can't so this anymore."

Regina fell into his arms. He wiped away her tears and stroked her cheeks.

"I know how hard everything is for you, but you're not done yet. Please Regina, never give up.

He pressed his lips against hers.

Regina then felt a sudden coldness on her head. Her true love's face faded away and it was replaced by the faces of Mary Margret and David. All she could do was look at her savior's faces in wonder.

"You saved me?"
