I suppose I've always been this easy to ignore. This... invisible. Or rather, more like a shadow- seen but not acknowledged. I'm always here but you never really see me. I'm just there. And so it doesn't surprise me that you haven't tried to dance with me. You floated between the other hosts so easily. From Hunny to Mori, Mori to Kaoru, Kaoru to Hikaru. And now you stand before our king,
Tamaki Suoh, my best friend and bane of my existence. I know I shouldn't be angry with him, I know he loves you. He'll take good care of you. But standing here and watching you look at him, about to take his hand... It makes me sick. Why can't you see how I care for you? You, Haruhi, who dared to stand up to my father. You who showed me that love has merit. You who made me see what I was missing.
I know I have to do something. I know it's crazy but I have to dance with you. Right now that's the most important thing in the world. So I do. I take your hand as your fingers brush Tamaki's. I pull you close and twirl with you. You're a lovely dancer for one so inexperienced. I'm so glad I was the one to teach you this particular dance. You're still perfectly in sync with me.
I speak to you, my mouth barely moving, "You look beautiful Haruhi."
"Thank you senpai." You say equally soft. I doubt the others can tell we're speaking.
I continue our twirling movements as Tamaki yells loudly. He's making a scene as usual. I let my glasses slip down my nose and peer over them at you. You giggle a bit at this.
"How do you feel about Tamaki? Do you love our king?" I ask suddenly. I have to know. I just have to.
"Tamaki-senpai is... crazy. I love him like I love my father. He's family and nothing more." You whisper. I can tell you're serious.
"And me?"
"Kyouya-senpai is Kyouya-senpai. No one in the world is the same."
"Do you love me Haruhi?"
You don't know how to answer and I know I shouldn't have asked. But I have to tell you.
"I love you Haruhi. I have loved you for a long time." I say quietly. I stare into your eyes and make you realize I'm serious, "My father will be waiting for me in the chairman's office. I will be outside there if you want me."
I spin you around pulling you close and letting your tiny figure fit against mine. You shiver as our most sensitive areas touch- separated by a few meager layers of cloth. You know what I'm implying. I shove you towards Tamaki and he catches you easily. You look back at me with your eyes filled with wonder. So goddamn beautiful. I hope to god you love me back Haruhi.
Because you're the only one who will.
