A/N: Okay, none of these are spectacular (actually, they're kinda shitty), but I posted them anyway. Have no expectations. And of course, I own nothing.
Roy sometimes worries himself sick over Edward and the trouble his temper will one day get him into. He wonders if this is what it feels like to be a father, but only briefly, because then he looks at the object of his distress - at the golden hair and furious eyes and beautiful, powerful body - and realizes that any father of Ed's who would look at him and think what he's thinking would be sick.
No, Roy doesn't want to be his father.
Edward thinks Roy Mustang is possibly the most beautiful person he has ever seen, though that could have something to do with the fact that he's half-delirious from blood loss and the office's fireplace is the first warmth he's felt in over a month.
But then he looks at the bastard colonel, all white skin and black hair and eyes that are oh good god dark with concern and he thinks that no, he's always been the most beautiful person he's ever seen.
It's good to be back.
Roy thinks Edward Elric is possibly the most beautiful person he has ever seen, despite the fact that his hair and clothes are dripping mud and worse onto his carpet and his face is pale and screwed into a furious scowl. He tells himself it's only relief that the boy is still in one piece.
But that would be lying. Roy Mustang can manipulate the shit out of everyone around him, as Ed likes to put it, but is never any good at lying to himself.
He's glad the boy is back.
Roy had a good eye for beauty, but he didn't think he'd ever look at Edward Elric - a thirteen year old boy, for god's sake - and think he would come to want him.
The rest of the world felt so big, and the space between them so small, and it made sense for them to close the distance.
Roy kissed him.
But no. The strand of hair he slipped behind Ed's ear stayed behind his ear, and Roy was reminded that it would never fall forward again.
The Fullmetal Alchemist was dead.
