Amy and her Raggedy Doctor.

Chapter ONE

After on crippling adventure with the minotaur, the doctor finally began to realize how significant he was to Amy. He sat at the Tardis console going over the past events in his brain.

'She had faith in me,' he pondered.

'She loves me...'

Saying it brought a smile to his face. He loved her too. All this time he did, and for the most part it was strictly in a 'best friend' way. But the doctor knew better. He knew amy was also attracted to him physically. He recalled that one night after the weeping angels ordeal that she threw herself at him and snogged him. He couldn't seem to get it out of his head. It was so wrong.

Amy was married.

Amy was hundreds of years younger than himself.

Amy was his best friend... And that was exactly why it was so right at the same time. Amy was the best friend he had ever had. He could tell her anything, and she would understand.

He ruffled his hair

Things were complicated though. Amy was human, and he was timelord. He would outlive her, as he had so many before. And he could never give her a normal human life.

'Rory could,' the thought teased his brain

And Rory deserved her.

He was her Last Centurion.

Caught off guard, he felt a warm hand delicately placed upon his shoulder and from the corner of his eye caught a dash of fiery red hair.

Amy was at his side.

"I won't have you brooding over here when i've just baked delicious chocolate chip cookies," said Amy.

"The word 'bake' and 'Amy Pond' should never be in the same sentence," he joked.

"Hush you," she whispered as she kissed his forehead and tugged on his hand to pull him up.

He gave in, stood up, and turned to her so that he was looking at her directly in the eyes.

He pressed his hands to the sides of her cheeks, "You don't know how good you have it. Enjoy this, Enjoy Rory-"

"Doctor-" Amy interjected as she turned her gaze from him.

"Have you ever been 'In Love' before?"

"All too often," he said.

"But my first love was my first wife, and she died long ago during the Time War."

Amy turned her gaze back to the doctor. She watched as his eyes seemed so far away, going back into his past. She wondered what was there. What he had seen, what he had done. All she knew was that the doctor who was before her eyes this day: Brown hair, suspenders, large chin, and bow tie. She wanted to know him, really know him, as he knew her.

A moment passed and the doctor seemed to come back to his reality. He looked at amy, who was also in deep thought, bitting her lower lip.

"All of this must seem so grand to you," he smiled wistfully.

"A man and his little blue box takes you away and shows you things you never imagined... shows you the stars."

His face became serious once agin, "but really it's not quite as glamorous as you may think. Everyone I know and love dies eventually. And I... I always live on."

Amy squeezed his hand.

"I'm here" she said with a smile.

He looked her over. "Why yes... yes, you are my dear Pond," he smiled and kissed her forehead.
