A/N: Another one-shot I wrote for a friend as a prize for winning my quotes contest. I'm pretty sure I owe her about 23 more prompts at this point, so you'll probably be seeing even more Thor from me in the near future. :D Enjoy!
Thor creeps along as silently as his bulky frame would allow, envying Fandarel and Hogan the easy grace they didn't seem to have to work for. Volstagg, in comparison, lumbered along like a wounded bear, which made Thor feel better.
Fandarel glances around, then moved closer to Thor, looking uneasy. "Have you seen Sif? It makes me nervous when she disappears like this."
Thor claps his hand on Fandarel's shoulder, making the smaller man wince. "DO not worry, my friend. Sif is well able to defend herself."
"That's precisely what worries me," Fandarel replies. His next words are cut off by a shout from Volstagg. They whirl around as one to find the large man lying face-down on the ground, Sif kneeling on his shoulders.
"It's a wonder we ever catch anything with you around. You're louder than a pair of three-legged oxen," she tells him, fondness evident in her voice. At Volstagg's muffled grunt, Sif laughs and stands up, holding out a hand to help him up.
"Yes, yes, and you are a spritely maid who enjoys scaring her companions half to death, we know," he grumbles, accepting her hand. Despite his words, he is smiling.
"And now your antics have probably managed to scare off all the game in the area," Hogan teases. "Well done, Sif."
"Oh, no, not at all. There's a rather large beast just over the next rise. Why do you think I climbed the tree in the first place? Thor was leading us in circles."
"I was most certainly not!" Thor replies, indignation coloring his tone. "I know exactly where I am!"
Sif laughs again. "If you say so. Let us go. The bilgesnipe I spotted seems like he might eb a fighter. I hope he proves a challenge for us to bring down."
"We shall see," Thor answers, eyes lighting up at the prospect of battle. "Come, friends. We'll bring this beast down, and his antlers will be the trophy that graces our hall tonight. They'll be singing our praises at the feast!"
A/N: Review? Thanks!
