Inspired by navycorpsmans "Call Me Newanda" here at fanfiction
I say inspired, it doesn't follow the story completely ... or maybe not much at all. But hey, it's poetry!
Please consider it a compliment, it was a great fic!

I imagine Newanda reading this in his new English class … with poor Peters blushing and wishing the earth to swallow him whole, probably.

The Trick of The Witch

As I sat in the mud and the dirt in the dark
As much whiskey as blood in my veins
With more whiskey, and, anger, and grief in my heart
A witch walked in, from the mist and rain

Was she real? I don't know. My vision was full
Of spots and lights and clouds
My guts on the ground, she picked up and pulled
Reading my pain out loud

Then sugar and honey poured from her lips
As she knelt at my feet in the dirt
Sweet nothings, 'forget its', 'till I loosed my wits
And was pulled down in the mud with her

In that moment I realized what she planned for me
She would suck my soul from its keep
Drink it and drink me and drain me and leave me
In blissful but dangerous sleep

With the last of my power I struggled. In vain!
As the witch brought her lips to mine
But her mouth held me hostage, her eyes had me chained
Her touch bent room and time

We came up for air, both gasping, both flushed
And I knew I didn't have long
"You'll regret this trick" was my line, short and rushed
But she laughed: the sound like a song

"You are drunk" said she, "and wont remember a thing"
Then she conquered me and I let her win
And when I woke in my bed I thought her a dream
'Till I found her black mark on my skin
