Chapter 1-The Dream

Ron stared at the wall not paying any attention to the lecture, his mind was elsewhere today. Not that was unusual for Ron, he never did pay much attention in class. But, today he found it particularly difficult to. All he could think about was her, Hermione Granger. The most beautiful, intelligent and amazing person he had ever known. He longed to tell her how he felt, though he was sure it was quite obvious already. He just didn't know how to tell her. He had tried on several occasions, still unsuccessful. Tonight he knew they would be alone for the most part, patrolling the corridors fulfilling their duties as Head Boy and Girl. It would be a wonderful opportunity to just blurt it out and get it over with. In his mind he imagined walking alongside her in a dim corridor, where he would reveal his undying and true love for her. And she, now crying softly, would say "I love you too Ron!" Then she would fall into his arms, look into his eyes and whisper, "Kiss me Ron." And then he would lean in and.

"Ron. Ron!"

He felt a hand grasp his shoulder and then awoke from his most wonderful dream.

"Ron, class is over. Come on."

He followed Harry as they headed up to the Gryfindor common room. Ron was excited in thinking that tonight might be the night, yet he doubted it would play out just as his dream. He was replaying the dream in his mind as they walked through the portrait hole into an almost full common room. Not paying any attention, yet again, Ron walked straight into a table knocking over a chess set that two third years were playing on. This caught the attention of the entire common room, which fell oddly quiet. Ron just smiled nervously and apologized to the third years. He kept walking and joined Harry on a small couch.

"Ron, are you all right? You seem different today," said Harry

"I'm fine mate. I think I'm just a little tired, I didn't get much sleep last night."

Just then Hermione came walking up to the two. There seemed to be a little bounce in her step this evening. She was also accompanied by a rather large grin. Ron stared at her gorgeous face, wishing that he could look at her every moment of everyday for the rest of his life.

"Hello Harry, Ron. Ready to go down to dinner?"

"Yes." the boys said almost simultaneously.

And the three of them made there way out of the common room following a large mass of students heading for dinner as well. And as they did, Ron did what he does best these days, daydreamed about Hermione. He couldn't help it, she was so fantastic in every aspect. He couldn't see himself with anyone else for the rest of his life. She was everything he couldn't ever need, or want. He just prayed that she felt the same about him, and that she knew it. Ron had always known he loved Hermione. From that magical day on the train heading to their first year at Hogwarts. However, he just never realized it until recently.

As the trio entered The Great Hall they sat down joining the other Gryfindors already at the table. The others began eating and talking about the days classes happily. But, all Ron could do was stab his chicken with his fork repeatedly and think some more about what would happen tonight. What will happen tonight, in that dimly lit corridor.
