This story is a replacement for a story of the same name that I wrote several years ago. It was written in the 2nd person and I found myself constantly getting caught up with that, so I decided to just go the route of a normal OC story. Please keep in mind that while I may be slightly more versed in British slang than the average American, I'm still not wholly familiar with all the intricacies. If there is anybody who is British who would like to be my Beta, I'd very much appreciate some local input.
I do not own anything related to Primeval other than the season passes on iTunes.
The security hoops Emma had to jump through were ludicrous, but then again, this is a top-secret government facility. She couldn't help but wonder what she had gotten herself into as she was stopped for the fifth time to have her ID checked.
A soldier escorted her down the corridors lined with labs and into the main room. She hardly had a chance to take it all in before she was ushered to an office upstairs, occupied by a very dapper looking man sorting through what seemed to be an absurd amount of paperwork. He glanced up at Emma, dismissing the soldier with a lazy wave of his hand.
"Ah, Ms. Graham, I'm glad you finally decided to show up. My name is James Lester." He said, words dripping with sarcasm.
"Yes, I wasn't sure what decade it was once I got through all the security." She replied with a sickly sweet smile as she took the seat across from him.
Lester sighed. "Quite. Well, I can already tell you'll fit in nicely. You can all bond over turning my life into a living nightmare. Nevertheless, your experience with wild animals and background in biological anthropology will come in handy."
She crossed her legs asking "Yes, what is it exactly you, or I suppose, we do here?"
"You and the team will track anomalies, rips in time and space that allow creatures from the past and future to come through and wreak havoc." He responded, voice nonchalant.
"…Riiiiiight….so I'm going to be chasing dinosaurs?" She asked incredulously.
He stood up buttoning his jacket "Basically. You will try to return them to their time and avoid civilian casualties and media coverage. I'll introduce you to the team."
He led her back down to the main room where several people were gathered, talking amongst themselves.
Lester cleared his throat and loudly stated, "This is Ms. Graham. She will be joining your team. She is a biological anthropologist and an expert in animal behaviour."
A man with blonde hair whipped around to look at Emma who was equally surprised.
"Nick?"
"Emma?"
I know this chapter was exceptionally short. I just wanted it to end there and didn't feel the need to fluff it up. I promise the next one will be much longer. Please leave a review! Thanks for reading!
