When L first saw her, he really was jealous.

When Misa first saw L, she thought he was cute.

When Misa insulted him repeatedly and said she hated him, his heart broke.

When Misa saw the hurt look in his eyes when she screamed 'I hate you!' She wanted nothing more than to say she was sorry.

When she saw the kindness in his heart for the first time she knew they were going to be great friends.

When Light broke-up with her she cried for days, L was the only one who cared.

When L kissed Misa she avoided him for a week.

When she confronted him he apologized and said he was just feeling confused that day, and she shouldn't worry about it, she didn't believe him but pretended she did.

When Misa gave him a hug he froze, it was the most awkward thing either of them ever encountered in their lives.

When L told her he loved her, she didn't avoid him, or freeze, she rolled her eyes and smiled. "Finally!" She had said, before wrapping him in a hug.

When Misa's memories floated back, her feelings for L didn't change, she pretended they did.

When Light told her to kill L, she lied, telling him she didn't remember what his name was, and she also told him she made the deal with Ryuk, she didn't.

When L said 'I love you,' she started to cry, not because she was happy, but because she knew of his inevitdable fate.

When he kept muttering things about bells and started standing on the roof in the rain for long periods of time, she didn't comfort him, she just avoided him, hoping by pushing him away it would sofen the blow of pain she'd feel later, it didn't.

When he died she cried for months, Light never knew, because she did it when he wasn't around. She regretted pushing him away.

When Light asked her to live with him, she accepted, she would always love Light, but in a different way, not the way she loved L, never the way she loved L.

When she and Light were discovered and thrown in prison, she could not have been more at peace, she felt like she deserved her fate.

When she was released and Light wasn't, she started her life over, met another man and actually fell in love for real for a second time, though no one would ever replace L in her heart.

When her daughter asked her why the 'weird' boy at school kept glancing at her, Misa smiled a fond memory playing in her mind, she simply responded, "He's just very essetric."

When...

Author's note: please note this story is a few years old and the characters are most likely very OOC. But I really liked the concept I tried to create here. I mean, can you imagine what Death Note would've been like if L Misa had fallen in love? Anyways I hope you enjoyed the story.
