Chapter 1- Spellbound

Nike's POV

I sat on my horse, Lightning Rider, as she trotted past a couple of spiders on our way to Spawn City. I was kind of tempted to kill them with my magic (because, seriously, they're spiders. They're creepy), but I decided against it. I wanted to make it to the city with full health, and plus I had plenty of string and experience.

I reached into my pack for some food, but all that was in there were potions. Crap. Lightning Rider and I had been traveling for hours and I was getting really sore. When were we going to get there? It was starting to get dark, and I considered using a Night Vision potion, but I only had one left. But I hate the dark so muuuuuuuuuuuuuuch! I started to reach for my bag, but pulled my hand away when I saw lights in the distance.

YYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSS!

"WHOO!" I cheered and spurred my horse into a gallop. We sped toward the lights at top speed. It took us about a minute to get there, and as we neared the city, we came up to a sign. I pulled back on the reins a bit and we slowed to a walk so I could read it.

Welcome To Spawn City, Founded By Minecraft-YouTube, Population 21 Million

Dude. This place is BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIG.

It was about 6 p.m., and there were a lot of people rushing about. Like, at least half the city had to be running around here. I looked down at my map. I'd already bought an area somewhere here, so now I just had to find it and build a house. I checked my map. The area I bought seemed to be on the north side of the city, which fortunately for me, was the side I was headed towards.

I jumped off Lightning Rider and looked around at Spawn City. Wow. It was… amazing. I'd never been in such a big city before. Well, at least not before the attack…

I shook my head vigorously and checked my bracelet. I only had four hunger bars left, but it looked like I made it with full health. I decided to get something to eat.

Walking through the city with my horse's reins in one hand, I looked around for a good place to buy food. I was all out, and I was starving. I was pretty nervous. What if the people here wouldn't accept me? What if I was going to turn out to be a misfit that would never fit in? I was sure no one would want me here.

Because most people don't welcome others when they find out they're cursed.

Eric's POV

I sighed. Stupid Enchanting Table. It kept taking my experience, but it didn't do anything to my diamond pickaxe. Why did my sister have to send me an Advanced Enchanting Table for my birthday? She knows I'm terrible with potions and magic. Why couldn't she just have sent me 5 stacks of redstone? That would've been enough to last me about a week. It would have been much more useful to me than this weird purple thing.

I was sitting in my front yard, trying to Enchant this stupid pickaxe! (Don't ask me why I was in my yard. Just deal with it. I'm weird that way.)

I picked up my diamond tool and tried again. Laying it on the table, I then flipped through the golden book to the Enchant I wanted.

The table started eating my experience again.

"WHAT THE FRICK?" I yelled as green and yellow orbs flew off of me and into the table. I leaned in and looked closely at the pick for any hint of any enchantment. Nothing. Crap.

A girl seemed to notice my frustration, because she walked over pulling a brown, black and white speckled horse behind her.

"Need help?" she asked.

I nodded. "Yeah. I'm terrible at Enchanting stuff. I'm good with redstone, but anything that has to do with potions or Enchants…" I trailed off as I got my first good look at the girl.

Wow. Just… just wow. She looked amazing. Raven-black hair with streaks of gold, royal blue eyes with flecks of amber and forest green. She was wearing a long white tank top and black yoga pants, topped off with worn out running shoes and an old brown belt. Her face and clothes were covered in dirt, and her hair was a total mess.

Wow.

She smiled. "I'm new to the city. Never been here before. My name's Nike. What's yours?"

"Ah…" I was completely tongue-tied, but I still managed to get it out. "E-Eric."

"Alright then, Eric, how about I just Enchant it for you? I've literally got almost a hundred levels. Plus, I'm a sorceress. I'm good with magic."

I snapped myself out of my trance. "Wait, sorceress?" I was dumbfounded. "We haven't had any magical beings in our city for years. The last one, Seto Sorcerer, left almost eight months ago."

Nike's eyes widened. "Really? Wow. Looks like I'm the only one, then." She looked kind of disappointed.

I shrugged. "We've been able to survive without the sorcerers for a while now. It was hard on everybody at first, but we quickly got used to it."

"Hmm," was her only comment as she stood next to me to Enchant my pickaxe. After a few seconds, Nike took it off the table and handed it to me. "I didn't know what Enchantment you wanted, so I gave it one level of each of them."

I looked in awe at my glowing diamond tool. "Wow, thanks Nike."

She smiled. "No problem." She put a hand to her stomach. "Holy Notch, I'm starving. Do you know of a good place to eat?"

"Yep, The TDM Coffee Shop. I could take you there, if you'd like." I offered hopefully.

"Oh, you don't have to do that." She said. "I'm sure I can find it on my own."

I shrugged. "No, it's fine. No problem. I'll even pay."

Nike took her horse's reins. "Come on, you don't have to do that."

I was stubborn. "You did something for me. Now I'll do something for you. I insist." I brought out some gold nuggets. "I'm practically rich from selling redstone contraptions."

Nike hesitated. "Fine," she relented. "Let's go then."
