On a cool, crisp night on the roof of a building I didn't recognize in a city I had never seen, I woke up sprawled below the stars staring at a moon I could have sworn didn't have a face before. If I had been a reasonable human being, I would have gotten up and started freaking out about suddenly waking up in a new place where the moon had a face, possibly I would have paced and talked to myself. I just laid there unable to tear my eyes away from the moon as blood started dripping from its teeth.
I was finally snapped out of my trance when a shadowy man touched my shoulder; when I jumped upright he said, "Good, you're awake. I was starting to think you were dead." I was still pretty terrified, so the only sound I was able to make was a quiet meep. Luckily for me, he did most of the talking. "Now, I understand. You're probably pretty terrified. You were just having a fun evening at home with your friends, and now you're on a roof in a strange place talking to a strange man.
He continued to explain that he was the one who had found me there, and that he could help me find my brother and his best friend. "Yes, Azure, they're here too, but they appeared somewhere else. Of course, if I help you, you have to help me. I'm sort of a super hero; I kill bad guys. I thought that, since you're a kind of magic weapon we have here, you could help me kill more bad people." I mustered up the courage to speak in order to express my confusion, "But, but, if I'm a person, how can I be a weapon?" He held out his hand and said, "It's in your blood. Just concentrate and think of what kind of weapon you would be.
I closed my eyes and thought, and when I opened them again I was looking out from an ice blue sword. I felt him swing me through the air as he said, "Nice, now let's go kill some bad guys." He ran across the rooftops until he caught sight of a woman in an alley. When he did, he jumped down. One moment, she was screaming, the next she was in frozen pieces on the ground with a blue will-o-wisp above her body. Once he finished, I turned back into a human. "Are you s-sure she was evil? She, she didn't even fight back." The shadow man grabbed the wisp and showed it to me, "Look at her soul, it's blue. That means it's cold and dead...evil." He put it in my hands and said, "Here, eat it. It'll make you stronger."
And I was gullible enough to believe him.
