Hello Voltron Force! I love this incarnation of the show for no real reason. I mean, I have to admit that it's not very good sometimes, but I mean NINJA SCIENTIST ZOMBIES. That's kind of great. Also, from what I can gather, the few fans of the series that exist on Tumblr(like edorazzi, ribbonsandstars, ourdustytrails, paladin-katie-holt, smool-oomloot, howtobook101(or maybe it's jadedbug), etc.) actually are nice to each other and agree on things. That's kind of rare on the site.

Story takes place after Flash Form Go!

Lance sighed for what seemed like the umpteenth time that day. Daniel was fun to have on the team sometimes, but he normally just gave the pilot a headache, which is why he was currently laying down on his bed. Earlier that day, Daniel had disobeyed orders and made him look bad, but still managed to get out of being in trouble because he got a picture of the speedy eyeball. But there was something about the kid that bothered him. It didn't have anything to do with the kid's past, or even what he looked like. The kid just reminded him of someone.

The only problem was Lance couldn't figure out who Daniel reminded him of.

Daniel was not Keith, or really a leader in general. If anything, the kiddo was a troublemaker with speed and the uncanny ability to make people forgive him for his actions. He wasn't like Pidge, and Lance had seen him start to doze off in one of Pidge's lectures. Daniel wasn't really like Hunk either, though the Yellow Lion pilot did seem to have a connection to the cadets. Daniel was in no way, shape, or form similar to Allura, but then again, no one could be a Team Mom like her. As for himself…

Lance sat straight up and rammed him head into the top bunk. Why do we even HAVE top bunks?! Brushing off the pain, Lance went over the thought again. Was Daniel really most similar to him? The Red Lion pilot started checking thing off on his fingers: troublemaker for sure, hard to contain, reckless, a bit of a mess…

With that, Lance got up from his bed and quickly made his way to Daniel and Vince's shared room. It wasn't late, and hopefully he'd be able to talk to Daniel.

As luck would have it, he bumped into the cadet as he was heading through the halls.

"Hey Lance," Daniel said as he walked by.

"Daniel! Just the guy I was looking for!" Lance responded.

"Uh… why? Did I mess up?"

"No, it's just come to my attention why I hate you sometimes but at other times treat you like you were my own kid."

Daniel was visibly concerned. "And why is that…?"

"Danman, you remind me of myself when I was your age. Reckless, not really listening to what authorities say, and really just wanting to make it to the next day."

Daniel relaxed, and managed to say, "Oh, that's it? I thought it was because of my whole wanting to pilot the Black Lion thing or the whole would-stop-a-friend's-death-through-self-sacrifice thing."

"Nah," Lance replied. "That's just a you thing. But I wouldn't get your hopes up too high because I doubt that Keith will give up the position any time in the near future." Under his breath, the pilot added, "And besides, you don't have self-deprecation issues." With that, he ruffled Daniel's hair and walked off.

"Lance?" Daniel called.

"Yeah?"

"What about the self-sacrifice thing?"

I know it's not much, but I like to believe Lance and Daniel have a good connection. While Daniel may idolize Keith, he's basically Lance. Seriously.

Also, there's probably NOT going to be an update to anything next week because things are crazy in life right now and I'm gonna be super busy. But hopefully Chapter 3 of Adjusting to the Echo should be up next week!
