A/N: So this is one of those unexpected things that happens quite randomly at eleven at night... It started out as a brother of Jadis watching the fighting and wondering what had happened to their world, then it became the equivalent of Aslan watching and ...not really wondering, but...sighing?... but then the last paragraph was so poetic that somehow I rewrote it all into a poem/lament sort of thing. And I like it a whole lot better now, so whaddya know!

Mourn for Charn

That once bright gem

That jewel of all cities!

Here once the King above all ruled

In days of peace and glory

The land was green and fertile

Children danced in the streets

Songs of salvation were sung

War was unheard of

Peace reigned

-

But now the jewel is tarnished

The glass is shattered

The blood of innocents waters the soil

Children are enslaved

Shouts fill the air

What pride so twisted the hearts of the rulers

That love was forgotten

And thrown in the dirt?

What could justify such anger

That would turn a world against itself

To the ruin of all?

-

A cold wind blows – cold

Like the sun that shines so pale at noon

It whispers death as it threads

Through ruins of a once great city.

This prideful city now has no honour

Leaving its dead in the street to rot

Skeletons bleaching under the pale sun.

-

Woe to Charn!

See your folly, great kings, and weep

For no more shall come of this world

Light fades on Charn

Light fades, and night comes.

One last thing, I'm working on a chapter-length story at present, but I don't know what the title should be. I've made a poll at the top of my profile, so please vote for what title you'd look at and then want to read more of ;) Thanks muchly!
