Not So Complicated

Night, Percy's favorite time of day. The welcoming moon with it's companions the stars would normally bring a smile to Percy's face.

But today as Percy sat down on his pier a frustrated sigh escaped his lips.

He was flipping through pages of his math book while looking down at his worksheet. He should of expected they would have a math class here at Camp Half Blood. A subject Percy couldn't stand, with the numbers in Greek it only made it worse because he couldn't figure out the formula.

Balling up his fists he stared at the moon. Why did they have to make this subject so complicated. His grades were even slipping in class.

Taking a deep breath Percy turned back to where he placed his math book only to see it in the hands of his best friend Annabeth. She scanned over the pages then look to the worksheet she then nodded before looking up to Percy.

"I can see how this could be complicated but once you figure out the formula it's a peace of cake." Annabeth said.

Before Percy could say another word Annabeth pulled out her pencil and perceived to draw something on Percy's worksheet.

Scooting closer Annabeth paused she felt her face heat up a little for being this close to Percy made her heart race. Clearing her throat she handed Percy his math book and worksheet.

Looking down at the sheet his eyes widen for Annabeth had written the formula out for him. At first it was hard to understand but once he tried it on the first question he smiled.

"Thank you….math has gotten a little easier for me now." Percy said.

"Your welcome, math is always hard at first but it will get easier over time." Annabeth replied.

Annabeth was about to stand up when Percy laid his hand over hers. Her face flushed even more but the moment she looked into Percy's eyes she forgot all about that.

"Um...I was wondering if you could stay...I mean at least until I am done my homework." Percy said.

"I would love to." Annabeth replied.

So the two of them sat there underneath the full moon on the pier. Annabeth would chime in whenever Percy would get frustrated and explained the questions to him which he would eventually understand.

Thinking finishing his homework would take an hour or longer With Annabeths's help it only took thirty minutes. Which meant they had some time to spare. Placing his worksheet and math book aside the two remained close as they looked up at the moon in the night sky.

Holding hands the two of them wished they could spend more time like this together. But they would have to enjoy what little time they had.

Soon a yawn escaped Percy's lips and Annabeth followed suit. With both of them barely able to keep there eyes open Annabeth knew it was time to leave.

"Come on it's time for us to get some sleep." Annabeth said.

Percy nodded, while he knew it was true he wish they could spend just a little bit more time together. Yet as another yawn escaped his lips he finally rose to his feet with Annabeth joining him soon after.

Setting his book down on the table Percy walked with Annabeth until they were just out side of his cabin. He wanted to take her back to her place but she shook her head in protest.

"Good Night." Annabeth said.

"Likewise and thanks again." Percy said.

The two waved their good byes and Percy watched Annabeth walk away. Thanks to her math was no longer complicated but his feelings for her were.
